Movement Health

Here at LB Physiotherapy on Chorley New Road, Bolton. The main reason most of our clients come to us is due to Pain. However, we believe pain is the final straw and is a consequence of poor movement health, which ironically leads to worse movement patterns and eventually pain…well, most of the time.

Unfortunately, Human life has become structured in a way that makes it very easy to avoid movement. On our way to work, we SIT in cars or on trains, when we eventually get to work we SIT at our desks for much of the day and then when we come home we SIT down to relax. This is not what our bodies are built for, not what they want and a sure way to create poor movement patterns.

Most people believe that healthy movement means exercise and a diet in order to look good on the beach, but healthy movement means more than that. Its how we move throughout our day and life, we are born to move healthily. Despite laptops and iPhones, humans are essentially animals. We’re meant to move with the grace and agility of a tiger (or a monkey). And good, efficient, movement offers us substantial benefits.

As humans, we move our bodies to express our wants, needs, emotions, thoughts, and ideas. Ultimately, how healthy our movement is, determines how well we engage with the world and establish our larger purpose in life.

We often notice that when people take control of their movement that they’re now living better and start to notice all the extra benefits that come with this:

  • More energetic

  • Attempt things they haven’t attempted for years

  • Empowered

  • Excited and proud of what they can do

  • Free from many of the anxieties and limitations that held them back

They are overall happier because their bodies now work like they’re supposed to… like they were born to.

So with Healthy Movement not only do you move better, but you also think, feel, and live better.

Our Approach

The traditional Physio role is to help clients reduce pain and return to normal activities. This is great in principle, however, we often find that people have repeated injuries to the same part in the same way. It’s regular that we hear; “I’ve had a bad back for 15 years it comes and goes” or “I’ve had a dodgy hip for longer than I can remember, I just put up with it” but how can we be doing our job well if this is the case? Is it right to go and see your physio every week to get “fixed”?

We believe our approach to our clients is different. With all our clients we aim to promote healthy movement patterns and teach them how to control, maintain and improve them further. Not only will this reduce their pain (the reason they originally sought our help) but it will also empower the client to continue to improve and prevent that re-occurrence of the same injury.

We very often find that giving people this improved movement health means they strive for and achieve more.

And that is our aim at LB Physiotherapy.
